By developing the capacity for beekeeping, coffee-growing families can develop more diversified livelihoods to fight food insecurity, and easing their dependency on one crop.

Beekeeping in Latin America

Beekeeping can provide additional income for coffee-growing families during the “Thin Months” of seasonal hunger.  Our goal is to provide useful information to prospective beekeepers, and we’ve created a community of practice – Cafe y Miel – to directly support coffee co-operatives and other growers’ organizations in Latin America, with information, connections with expertise and resources, and real-time support, to help them get started in commercial beekeeping.

The tutorials here, along with more in-depth information on this site, provide an overview of the basic components of beekeeping, and are available to all.
