For us, every day is International Women’s Day. Throughout Latin America, we get to see what women can do when they have access to the right tools, skills, and knowledge. Slowly and steadily they’re building food security, better nutrition, and stronger livelihoods – not just for their own families, but for everyone in the community.

Marcela and Janice traveled with folks from Philz Coffee to the Soppexcca coffee cooperative in Nicaragua to see progress on this new venture: bringing organic produce, grown by women coffee farmers, to Jinotega, a city of more than 100,000 people. Our friends at Philz put together this little tidbit about some of these women who are taking charge of food security in their community — and making lives better for the people around them.
